Robbie Keane eyeing player-coach role next season

Robbie Keane has revealed that he wants to become a manager but is keen to prolong his playing career by at least another season.

Keane has been competing in India since August, with the Republic of Ireland legend having recently become the player-manager of ATK.

The 37-year-old has indicated that he is yet to consider retirement but says that he wants to start to make the transition into coaching as soon as possible.

Keane told Soccer AM: "It's something that I have been thinking about for a long time. I've done my coaching badges and I'm in the process of doing my pro-licence. It's certainly a route that I want to go down."

"I think I've definitely got another year left in me playing. I'd like something where I was involved in coaching also."

As it stands, it is unclear whether Keane will continue with ATK or look to make a return to British football during the summer.
