Barcelona sporting vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has said that the club are still confident of signing Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal.
Alexis Sanchez became the European Champions' first purchase of the summer when he completed a move from Udinese on Thursday.
The Catalan club expect to make more signings before the end of August and the Gunners captain is high on their list of priorities.
During Monday’s press conference to unveil Sanchez, Bartomeu admitted that Barcelona were talking to Arsenal about signing Fabregas.
"[The talks] are going in the right direction," he said. "We will try and do what we can with the money we have.
"We have until August 30 to do things and I am sure we will."
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has consistently said that neither Fabregas nor Manchester City target Samir Nasri will be leaving the Emirates.
