Erik ten Hag has insisted that Manchester United want to keep hold of captain Bruno Fernandes amid reported uncertainty over his future at Old Trafford.

After missing two games with a wrist injury, Fernandes returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday and made his presence felt as the Red Devils secured an important 3-2 victory at home to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Fernandes was tasked with operating as a false nine as Ten Hag opted to hand Rasmus Hojlund a rest, but that did not stop the Portuguese playmaker from pulling the strings throughout the contest.

The 29-year-old provided an assist for Hojlund when he came off the substitutes' bench to seal maximum points for United six minutes from time after Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo had scored earlier in the match.

One of Arsenal's first-team goalkeepers has revealed that he has already said his goodbyes to the club ahead of an expected exit this summer.

Twenty-two-year-old Arthur Okonkwo - who has spent the season on loan at Wrexham - is out of contract at the end of the season and has seemingly not been offered an extension.

The former England Under-18 international has been on the books in North London since 2009, but he has failed to make a single senior competitive appearance, only getting as far as the bench in the Premier League and Europa League.

However, Okonkwo has made a name for himself during loan spells with Crewe Alexandra, Sturm Graz and most recently Wrexham, keeping 14 clean sheets in 36 League Two matches during the 2023-24 campaign.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to offer £55m for Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, but Everton value the in-demand centre-back closer to £80m.

The Red Devils are likely to bring in two new central defenders during the upcoming market, as Raphael Varane's exit has already been confirmed, while Jonny Evans is also likely to leave on a free transfer.

The club are also believed to be open to offers for Victor Lindelof, with two new centre-backs therefore set to move to Old Trafford ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Chelsea 'name new asking price for out-of-favour player'

Co-owner and Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly reacts after the match on March 11, 2024

Chelsea have reportedly reached a decision over a new asking price for Romelu Lukaku.

When the Blues acquired the services of the forward for £97.5m in 2021, the hope was that he would lead the forward line for years to come.

Instead, Lukaku failed to settle under Thomas Tuchel and has since been loaned back to Inter Milan and fellow Italian side Roma, a consequence of being unable to attract suitable permanent offers.

The West Londoners have still been able to benefit from receiving a substantial loan fee each time, as well as the bulk or entirety of Lukaku's wages being paid in full by Inter and Roma.

'Chelsea signings have held their value' - Boehly comments on transfer strategy

    © Reuters

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has claimed that the Blues have been 'making investments', rather than spending money, in the transfer market.

Ever since taking over from Roman Abramovich in May 2022, co-owners Boehly and Clearlake Capital have polarised the footballing world with their unique strategy.

Across the first three transfer windows, over £1bn was spent on fresh faces, the vast majority being players before the age of 23 whose value could increase over time.

Boehly and Clearlake Capital have also made a habit of handing out contracts in excess of seven years, the objective being to build a young side that can dominate for years to come.

Sofyan Amrabat's agent was reportedly in Manchester on Tuesday to hold talks with Manchester United over the future of his client.

The Morocco international made a loan switch to Old Trafford from Fiorentina last summer, and the Red Devils have the option to sign him on a permanent basis during this summer's transfer window.

The loan is believed to have cost Erik ten Hag's side €10m (£8.6m), while the purchase option is said to be worth €20m (£17.1m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons.

The 27-year-old has made 27 appearances for Man United this season, but he has largely struggled to hold down a starting role.

Chelsea are reportedly in line to secure a welcome financial boost ahead of filing their next accounts.

Having spent in excess of £1bn across their opening three transfer windows, co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital must find a way to ensure that they meet the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations on June 30.

Reports maintain that club officials remain comfortable that they fill tick the necessary boxes, despite making losses of over £200m across the last two published periods.

In order to comply, Chelsea must not make a total loss of £105m across a three-year period, putting their hierarchy under pressure to get the books in order.

Manchester United are reportedly considering making a move for Aston Villa centre-forward Ollie Watkins during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils will sign a new striker in the upcoming market, with the club determined to bring in competition and support for Rasmus Hojlund during the 2024-25 campaign.

Earlier this year, ex-Man United captain Roy Keane urged Erik ten Hag's side to make a move for Watkins, who has scored 27 goals and registered 13 assists in 52 appearances for Villa this season.

"He could play for one of the top teams, couldn't he?" Keane told Sky Sports News. "Villa are a top team but you're talking about bigger clubs in Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City. That's a compliment to him, not that he has to leave Villa. But he's capable of doing it.

Three England internationals 'among seven players put up for sale by Arsenal'

    © Reuters

A trio of England internationals are reportedly among seven players whom Arsenal are prepared to entertain offers for in the summer transfer window.

Another campaign of close but no cigar is set to befall Mikel Arteta's men, who appear destined to finish second in the Premier League behind Manchester City for the second year running.

Unlike last year, where an end-of-season capitulation lost them the crown, Arsenal have taken the fight for the title right up until gameweek 38, but Man City's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday saw the champions establish a two-point lead at the summit.

While the Gunners can only get their job done against Everton on May 19, their efforts will be rendered meaningless if Man City overcome West Ham United for an unprecedented fourth straight Premier League title.

One of Liverpool's first-team goalkeepers has confirmed that he is eyeing a move away from Anfield in the summer transfer window.

Experienced Spaniard Adrian has served as Jurgen Klopp's third-choice stopper behind Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher and has unsurprisingly not made a single appearance for the club this season.

The 37-year-old has been on the bench in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup thanks to Alisson's absences through injury, but he has not played for Liverpool since the 2022 Community Shield win over Manchester City.

Adrian's contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, and the former West Ham United and Real Betis goalkeeper has been widely expected to move on when his terms expire.
