Toronto pile misery on DC United

Toronto FC have pulled further clear of DC United at the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference with a 3-1 win at BMO Field.

The Canadian outfit are now 11 points clear of the Black and Red, although they have played one game more than Ben Olsen's men, who are cemented at the foot of the league table.

It was the visitors who took the lead in the 15th minute courtesy of a wonderful left-footed strike from Jared Jeffrey that nestled in the top corner from 30 yards out.

However, Darel Russell showed excellent technique to drag his team level 10 minutes later when he brought the ball down on his chest before firing past Joe Willis on the turn.

Bright Dike volleyed Ryan Nelsen's side ahead in the 66th minute, capping an excellent performance as he continues his recovery from injury.

Any hope that the Texans had of leaving with a point was effectively ended five minutes later when Conor Shanosky turned the ball into his own net.

Alvaro Rey went on to complete the rout in the 87th minute.
