Sebastian Giovinco impresses as Toronto defeat San Jose Earthquakes

Sebastian Giovinco puts in another man-of-the-match display as Toronto defeat San Jose Earthquakes 3-1 in the MLS.

Toronto FC have defeated San Jose Earthquakes 3-1 in the MLS this morning.

San Jose started the match strongly, with Sanna Nyassi, Khari Stephenson and Chris Wondolowski all taking aim at goal inside the opening 10 minutes.

However, it was Toronto who took the lead in the 22nd minute when defender Justin Morrow leapt highest to score his first goal of the season.

The Canadian team only led for two minutes as Ashtone Morgan's handball inside the area was spotted by the referee, and Wondolowski dispatched his spot kick into the back of the net.

Adam Jahn then saw his shot saved by Toronto goalkeeper Chris Konopka.

Warren Creavalle gave Toronto the lead once again in the 33rd minute, finding the net from Luke Moore's assist.

Sebastian Giovinco was causing problems for the San Jose defence throughout the second half, missing the target twice and hitting the woodwork from a free kick.

The Italian then set up Moore in the 71st minute with an inch-perfect pass which left the English striker with an easy finish from four yards.
