Kristoffer Nordfeldt signs new four-year deal with Swansea City

Swansea City goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt signs a new four-year contract at the club.

Swansea City have announced that goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt has signed a new four-year contract at the club.

The Swedish shot-stopper joined the Welsh outfit last summer from Heerenveen, but has made just four appearances due to Lukasz Fabianski standing in his way.

Despite his failure to break into the first team, Nordfeldt, who is open to going out on loan for the season, has committed himself to Swansea until the summer of 2020.

"I am happy to have signed," Nordfeldt told the club's official website. "To be fair I didn't play that much last year and for the club to give me this deal shows a big commitment. I am happy with the confidence the club have shown in me and I hope I can pay it back.

"Everybody knows the situation with Lukasz at the moment - he is doing well. It has been tough for me, but I will keep fighting and pushing to get the spot and hopefully that motivates him to keep sharp as well."

The 27-year-old had two years remaining on his previous contract.
