Taylor: 'Britton still has much to offer'

Swansea City defender Neil Taylor has suggested that teammate Leon Britton should not be written off yet.

The 32-year-old midfielder has recently stated that he will flight for his place in the team, despite rumours linking him with a move to the United States.

"Leon's a great character and he's still only 32. And when I see him in training, he's still a good player," Taylor told BBC Sport.

"There is no writing off Leon in any way. In training he still does things that dazzle us and he's still capable of playing at this level.

"So we're happy he's still around and he's a figure for this football club. The new boys coming in have seen how big a part of this club he is, not just on the pitch but off it as well."

Britton has made 142 appearances since re-signing for the Swans in 2011.
