Shelvey accepts FA violent conduct charge

Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has been banned for four games after "reluctantly" accepting a charge of violent conduct from the Football Association.

Shelvey was hit with the charge after elbowing Liverpool's Emre Can during his side's 4-1 defeat an Anfield on Monday.

The incident was not dealt with by officials at the time, but the FA decided to take action retrospectively.

"While the club supports Shelvey's statement that the incident was unintentional, it does not believe the outcome of an appeal would prove positive for the club or player," read a statement on Swansea's official website.

Shelvey will start his suspension tomorrow when Swansea travel to Queens Park Rangers in the league.
