Rodgers to miss match after father's death

Brendan Rodgers will miss Swansea City's match against Arsenal following the death of his father.

Malachy Rodgers, 59, passed away in the early hours of this morning after a battle with cancer. The Swans manager travelled back to his native Northern Ireland yesterday to be with his family and will be absent from the Emirates.

Assistant manager Colin Pascoe and coach Alan Curtis will stand in at the match.

The team will wear black armbands in tribute to both Malachy Rodgers and Mike Dye, the Wales fan who died at Wembley earlier this week.
