Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers reveals that he turned down big-money offers to manage elsewhere last summer.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he turned down lucrative offers to manage elsewhere last summer following Swansea City's promotion to the Premier League

The Swans boss refused to name the clubs interested but did say that they offered much more than his current salary.

"I could've gone in the summer and got more money, but it wasn't about me then, it was the well-being of my family," the 39-year-old told BBC Wales Sport.

"And I wanted to ensure this club was protected by getting players here signed for longer term."

The Northern Irishman did however say that the more distant future is not set in stone, adding: "What the future holds, you just never ever know.

"But I always have a sense of the present and the present now is that I'm very happy at this great club and I'll continue to fight for what is a great club and a great city."

Swansea have been one of the Premier League's surprise packages this season, sitting 14th, 11 points clear of the drop zone. They welcome league leaders Manchester City to South Wales tomorrow.
