Huw Jenkins: 'Brendan Rodgers staying put'

Jenkins: 'Rodgers staying put'

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has insisted that he will do everything possible to keep hold of manager Brendan Rodgers during the summer.

Following a largely successful first season in the Premier League, Rodgers has been linked with a number of potential vacancies.

Despite admitting that some clubs may firm up their interest during pre-season, Jenkins has revealed that he expects Rodgers to remain loyal to the Swans for the time being.

"Brendan's done really well coming into the Premier League and the way football is there could be three, four, five jobs coming up in the summer and you never know," Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post. "Obviously things like that are going to be touted about, but we'll do all we can to make sure Brendan stays with us.

"We also fully appreciate some of these clubs are going to be looking for managers and perhaps - hopefully not now, but in the future - Brendan may think the time will be right to move to a club in the Champions League.

"But I think that's a while off yet - let's concentrate on what he does for us over the next few years."

Rodgers took charge at the Liberty Stadium in 2010.
