Gylfi Sigurdsson: 'Swansea City are almost safe'

Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson says that his side are "almost" safe from relegation after reaching the 40-point mark with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea.

Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has said that his side are "almost" safe from relegation following their 1-0 victory over Chelsea this afternoon.

Sigurdsson took his tally for the season to 11 with the only goal of the game at the Liberty Stadium to give the Swans their first ever Premier League victory over Chelsea.

The result took Francesco Guidolin's side to the 40-point mark, 13 clear of the relegation zone, and Sigurdsson acknowledged that it was a "massive" win for his side.

"It's a massive three points and overall I think we deserved it. There's a good gap in between us and the bottom three now and I think we're almost there," he told BBC Sport.

Only Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero have scored more Premier League goals than Sigurdsson in 2016.
