Borja Baston: 'Easy decision to join Swansea City'

New Swansea City striker Borja Baston insists that it was an "easy decision" for him to join the club from Atletico Madrid.

New Swansea City striker Borja Baston has said that it was an "easy decision" to join the club from Atletico Madrid.

The 23-year-old striker became Swansea's record signing when he completed his move to the Liberty Stadium earlier today in a deal worth £15.5m.

Borja will link up with compatriot Fernando Llorente in South Wales, and he believes that they will complement each other up front.

"Swansea had been after me for a while but it was a case of sorting things out. Then it happened quite quickly, it was an easy decision. Atletico are a big club but they couldn't give me the opportunities to play. This is why I wanted to come. I was at Atletico as a four-year-old. When I joined I was full of hope, but they didn't give me the opportunity so that is why I am here," he told reporters.

"I am really looking forward to starting here and doing good things. I knew a lot of Spaniards play here and the club have done great things, so I knew it could be a good move. I've spoken to [Llorente] already and I feel we can work very well together.

"In Spain I have seen him have a lot of success and good seasons. The last year I played with similar type of players, it is a conversation about how we can play together. But it is the manager who makes the decisions. I am just pleased to be here. It's a good pressure, it's no problem. I know it's a record fee but it's okay."

Baston could make his debut for Swansea away to Burnley on Saturday.
