Kyle Bartley looking forward to future with Swansea City

Kyle Bartley is looking forward to the future at Swansea City after Garry Monk's decision to hand him a start last weekend.

Kyle Bartley has declared his intentions to impress with Swansea City as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract at the club.

The 22-year-old spent most of the season on loan at Birmingham City after former manager Michael Laudrup decided against using him last summer, but Garry Monk brought the defender back to the club to give him his first start in the victory over Sunderland last weekend.

Bartley is now hopeful that he can become a regular member of the side in Monk's first full campaign in charge at the Liberty Stadium.

"I'm really happy with the manager coming in and I've got a year left on my contract," Bartley is quoted as saying by Wales Online.

"With Garry and the chairman, I'd like to look forward to the future.

"Thankfully the manager gave me my chance last Saturday and hopefully I did well. I think he's been fantastic, a breath of fresh air – he's got great ideas, great motivation, we all respect him massively and I think he'll do really well."

Bartley joined Swansea from Arsenal in August 2012.
