Francesco Guidolin targets Swansea City EFL Cup success

Guidolin targets Swansea cup success

Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin has set his sights on winning the EFL Cup this season.

The Swans travel to Peterborough United tomorrow evening for their second-round clash as Guidolin gets his first taste of English cup action.

The veteran manager steered Vicenza to Coppa Italia glory in 1997, and he is hopeful of winning another piece of unexpected silverware this term.

"We won the Coppa Italia and for a little team this is fantastic. It is not exactly the same as Leicester [winning the Premier League], but after us no little team has won the Coppa Italia. It has always been a strong team like Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Inter and Roma," he told reporters.

"This was one of my best moments, but fortunately I've had a lot of good moments in my career in Italy. I think my squad is strong enough if we don't have injuries. We can be focused on the Premier League and the cup.

"The cups in the UK are important and I want to respect this attitude. We will go to Peterborough with a good team, try to win and continue in the competition. We hope to go a long way and have a fantastic FA Cup, to try and stay in all competitions."

Swansea won the competition in 2013 to claim their first ever major trophy.
