Report: Davide Santon set for Sunderland medical

Italian defender Davide Santon is reportedly heading to Sunderland for a medical.

The 25-year-old, who represented Newcastle United between 2011 and 2015, is currently in his second spell with Inter Milan, but has struggled for form since returning to Serie A in 2015.

It is understood that Sunderland have agreed a deal with Inter in the region of £4m for the right-back and according to Sky Sports News, the Italian international will travel to England to undergo a medical with the Black Cats.

Santon, who was once said to be on the radar of both Barcelona and Real Madrid, only made 11 appearances for Inter during the 2015-16 campaign.
