Egyptian midfielder wants clarification over his future

Elmohamady seeks Sunderland talks

Ahmed Elmohamady has sought clarification over his Sunderland future after he returned to the club for pre-season training.

The Egyptian midfielder has not started a match for Sunderland since manager Martin O'Neill was brought to the club in December.

A source close to Elmohamady told The Chronicle: "There have been stories the club would be prepared to let him leave but he has not been told that.

"If he is still a Sunderland player next year, he will be more than happy. He has never submitted a transfer request, but he is desperate to play first-team football."

Elmohamady has been linked with moves to West Ham United or Hull City.
