AZ Alkmaar technical director Earnie Stewart has denied reports that Sunderland have had a bid rejected for striker Jozy Altidore.
The American international was reportedly in talks with a Premier League club on Tuesday.
A spokesman from AZ stated that the Black Cats had a bid rebuffed but Stewart confirmed that he has yet to discuss a possible move with anyone.
Stewart told MLSSoccer.com: "I have not spoken to [Sunderland] yet."
Altidore has spent time in the Premier League before with loan spell with Hull City in the 2009-10 season.
