Dick Advocaat: 'Leroy Fer not joining Sunderland'

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has confirmed that Leroy Fer will not be joining the club this summer.

The Queens Park Rangers midfielder reportedly failed a medical with the Black Cats on Thursday.

When asked if a move for the 25-year-old was "dead", Advocaat told reporters: "Yeah, definitely. Unfortunately that kind of thing happens. It didn't work out for us."

Sunderland play their first match of the new Premier League season tomorrow when they make the trip to Leicester City.
