Dwight Yorke surprised by lack of interest in Sunderland job

Ex-Sunderland striker Dwight Yorke says that he does not understand why more managers are not lining up to take charge of the club.

Former Sunderland striker Dwight Yorke has revealed that he does not understand why managers are not queuing up to take charge of the club.

The Black Cats are looking for their sixth boss in four years following the departure of Dick Advocaat on Sunday.

Yorke, who played for Sunderland between 2006 and 2009, has claimed that the manager's job at the Stadium of Light is still a great position to hold.

"Sunderland is a wonderful club to be a manager at and, if they can get things right there, the support is immense," he told talkSPORT.

"I'm a bit stunned [why more managers don't want the job]. The reality is it is a fantastic job and I can't see why managers wouldn't want to take it."

Former West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has been linked with the post.
