Sunderland winger Adam Johnson is included in the matchday squad to face Southampton at the weekend, despite being charged with child sex offences.

Sunderland winger Adam Johnson has been included in Dick Advocaat's matchday squad for tomorrow's match against Southampton, despite recently being charged with child sex offences.

The 27-year-old was not named in the 18-man squad for the Black Cats' 1-1 draw with Stoke City last weekend, but the Englishman has now returned to the fold.

Last Thursday, Johnson was charged with three offences of alleged sexual activity with a child under 16, and one offence of grooming.

Johnson will appear before Peterlee Magistrates' Court on May 20.
