Chris Coleman 'wants Sunderland stay'

Sunderland manager Chris Coleman reportedly wants to remain at the club despite their relegation from the Championship.

The Black Cats dropped into League One after losing 2-1 to Burton Albion at the weekend but, according to Sky Sports News, the former Wales boss is keen to manage them in the third tier.

The club's long-term future is said to hinge on a takeover bid, with American owner Ellis Short desperate to offload the club and its debts of around £100m.

Coleman is reportedly aiming to hold talks with Short about plans to raise funds for next season in the event of a takeover bid failing.

According to recent reports, two firm offers for the club have been tabled.
