Dick Advocaat: 'Lee Cattermole will start against Newcastle United'

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat confirms that Lee Cattermole will start for his side against Newcastle United after missing the last two matches through suspension.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has revealed that Lee Cattermole will return to the starting lineup for the Wear-Tyne derby against Newcastle United.

The 27-year-old has missed the Black Cats' last two matches due to suspension after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season against Hull City.

However, the Dutchman is ready to throw the midfielder straight into the team against their bitter rivals because of his experience.

"I have told Lee – he was the only one I mentioned to at our team meeting that he will play, so he knows it," Advocaat told the club's official website.

"He is the controller; a player of experience for the team. It is good that he is back, both as a player and as a person."

Sunderland face off against Newcastle at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
