Stoke City hit by sickness bug ahead of Liverpool match

Three Stoke City players have been unable to train after being struck down by sickness bug, manager Mark Hughes reveals.

Mark Hughes has revealed that Stoke City are "struggling" in the wake of a sickness bug that has hit the camp.

The Potters' plans for this weekend's clash against Liverpool have been severely hit, with Asmir Begovic, Geoff Cameron and Phil Bardsley among those unable to train.

"We're struggling at the moment with a little bit of a virus," Hughes told reporters. "It started with the Under-21s and we've had to close down their operation really and keep everyone away from the first team.

"Unfortunately, there's been a little bit of sickness in the senior squad this morning and two or three players have been sent back home."

Stoke are currently 11th in the Premier League table.
