Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly prepared a new contract for Jan Vertonghen in an attempt to scare off interest from other clubs.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Barcelona were considering making an offer for the Belgian defender, despite suggestions that Spurs would reject any bid.
The club is believed to have begun preliminary negotiations with Vertonghen's representatives as they look to secure the 27-year-old's services for the foreseeable future.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs will offer Vertonghen a new five-year deal, which will include an increase on his current wages of £45k a week.
Hugo Lloris recently committed his own future to Spurs by signing a five-year contract.
