Son Heung-min signs new five-year Tottenham Hotspur contract

Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min puts pen to paper on a new five-year deal which will keep him at the club until 2023.

Son Heung-min has committed his long-term future to Tottenham Hotspur by signing a new five-year contract with the club.

The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal which will keep him at the club until 2023, extending his stay in North London to eight years.

Son joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and has since gone on to score 47 goals in 140 appearances for the club, becoming the leading Asian scorer in Premier League history in the process.

The South Korean enjoyed his best season for the club last season in terms of contribution to goals, scoring 18 and assisting 11 more throughout the campaign.

Son, who was a member of South Korea's squad at this summer's World Cup, will join up with his teammates again ahead of their pre-season tour of the United States, where Spurs will face Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan.

The player will also be available for Tottenham's opening Premier League game of the season against Newcastle United, but is then expected to travel with his country to take part in the Asian Games in Indonesia.
