Roma still interested in Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld?

Roma are reportedly still in the running to sign Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur, despite his increased price tag.

The Belgian centre-back was available for a cut-price £25m until last Thursday when the release clause in his contract expired.

Spurs are now supposedly after around £40m for the 30-year-old, but Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Roma have not been put off.

Officials from the Serie A side are set to meet with their Tottenham counterparts in the coming days, it is claimed, and talks could yet reach a positive conclusion.

Alderweireld recently declared that he is happy to stay in North London, but he is unlikely to extend his current deal beyond next summer.
