Report: Spurs owner to take control of Bale talks

Tottenham Hotspur owner Joe Lewis is reportedly preparing to take control of negotiations with Real Madrid regarding the proposed sale of Gareth Bale.

Until now, talks have been handled by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who has insisted that the 24-year-old winger is not for sale at any price.

However, Bale has his heart set on a move to the Spanish capital and Lewis is now expected to wade in to try to manufacture a positive solution for his club.

According to the Daily Mail, the Bahamas-based billionaire, along with Levy, will meet Real president Florentino Perez in the USA this month and demand that the Spanish giants pay at least £100m up front for the Wales international.

The paper also claims that Lewis will want a figure closer to £120m if Madrid wish to pay in five yearly installments.
