Jamie Redknapp believes that Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale would be an ideal fit for Real Madrid.

Jamie Redknapp believes that Gareth Bale would be a "revelation" if he moves to Real Madrid this summer.

The Tottenham Hotspur winger has been a summer-long target for the Spanish giants, with a recent report claiming that Madrid had made a world record-breaking £85m offer for the Welshman.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has so far been reluctant to discuss Bale's future with Los Blancos, but former Spurs midfielder Redknapp feels that it is time that the 24-year-old moved on.

"I have no doubt Bale will be a revelation at the [Santiago] Bernabeu," Redknapp wrote in his column in the Daily Mail. "Bale knows he has outgrown the club. He's too good to play for a team that finishes fifth and will be back in the Europa League this season, instead of the Champions League.

"The Welshman will also feel massively wanted by the fans in Spain, who are desperate for his arrival. When £34million signing Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad was unveiled earlier this month in the Bernabeu, they chanted Bale's name.

"He's ready to go to Spain and neither Tottenham nor their fans should begrudge him that. Fans should ask what they would want if it was their son offered such an opportunity."

Bale enjoyed an impressive season for Tottenham in 2012-13, winning both the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year award en route to scoring 21 goals in the Premier League.
