Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made significant progress in their efforts to sign Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich.
Portugal international Palhinha made 68 Premier League appearances before he completed a move to Bayern last summer.
The 30-year-old ultimately failed to establish himself in Vincent Kompany's side in the 2024-25 campaign, mustering just six starts in 16 Bundesliga appearances.
As a result, Bayern are seemingly willing to allow Palhinha to leave to gain regular game time elsewhere.
Tottenham close to Palhinha deal
It was reported earlier on Thursday that Tottenham had opened talks with Bayern over a loan deal for the midfielder.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Fulham have made swift progress in negotiations, which are believed to be 'very advanced'.
The update claims that Tottenham and Palhinha only have to work out the 'final details', while an agreement between the two clubs is 'almost complete'
This proposed arrangement includes an option to buy, and will see Tottenham cover the player's entire salary.
Palhinha is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days before he can be officially unveiled as the newest member of Thomas Frank's squad.
Will Palhinha be a regular starter at Tottenham?
Palhinha's arrival could impact Yves Bissouma, who has been linked with a potential move away from the North London club.
Even if Bissouma were to depart, Palhinha would still have to battle for a place in Frank's starting lineup.
Palhinha's main competitors for one of the two central-midfield spots are likely to be Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr.
Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall are also options, although the latter is capable of playing in defence, while the latter can play as an attacking midfielder.
