David Moyes: Steven 'Pienaar wants to stay'

David Moyes thinks that Steven Pienaar wants to stay at Everton.

Everton manager David Moyes believes that midfielder Steven Pienaar wants to stay at Goodison Park.

The South African is currently on loan at the Toffees from Tottenham Hotspur and has been a success in his second stint with the club, assisting three goals during the 4-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.

Moyes is keen to keep Pienaar at the club and admits that the player's desire to stay could help force a transfer.

"I don't know if we have or haven't got a chance of keeping Steven Pienaar yet. We'll try after the season finishes. I'm sure we would all like to keep him, and I actually think Steven would like to stay," said Moyes.

"If that's the case it gives us a chance to make it happen, obviously he's owned by Tottenham Hotspur but he's told me he wants to stay.

"You can see how terrific he was against Fulham. He created two goals and all around he looks as if he enjoys his football and feels appreciated. What he does is exceptional."

Pienaar has scored three goals in 11 games since he returned to Everton in January.
