Clint Dempsey close to Tottenham Hotspur exit?

Tottenham Hotspur forward Clint Dempsey is reported to be on the verge of joining Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders.

Spurs are expected to recoup the majority of the £6m fee that they paid Fulham for Dempsey's services when the 30-year-old moved across London last summer.

Sounders coach Sigi Schmid has done his best to keep a lid on speculation regarding a deal to sign Dempsey, but BBC Sport claims that the American international will be confirmed as a Seattle player within 48 hours.

Dempsey would become the fourth former Premier League player on Seattle's books, joining Djimi Traore, Obafemi Martins and Marcus Hahnemann.
