Bayern Munich continue to work on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane, according to a report.

Bayern Munich are reportedly working on a deal for Harry Kane, with the Bundesliga champions determined to sign the Tottenham Hotspur forward during next summer's transfer window.

The German outfit decided against signing a replacement for Robert Lewandowski during the recent window, but they are expected to be in the market for a big-money centre-forward next year.

There has been speculation surrounding Kane's future over the last couple of years, with Manchester City attempting to sign him in the summer of 2021 before ultimately admitting defeat in their pursuit.

Bayern have seemingly emerged as serious contenders for the England captain next year, with the club's head coach Julian Nagelsmann hailing the striker when questioned on him over the summer.

"He's very expensive that's the problem - but brilliant player, one of two or three who can play as a centre forward [as well as a] No 10, but he's very strong, brilliant with [his] head and both feet," Nagelsmann told reporters.

"He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don't know the price, but it's really tough for Bayern Munich. We'll see what happens in the future."

Meanwhile, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn recently hailed the Englishman, telling Sky Deutschland: "Kane is very good player, but there are also many other very good players. I've read that [gossip] everywhere."

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bundesliga champions are working on a deal for the 29-year-old, who only has little over 18 months left to run on his contract at Tottenham.

Plettenberg claims that Kane is likely to make a decision on his future after the World Cup, with England currently preparing for their last-16 clash with Senegal on Sunday.

Bayern are allegedly looking to do a deal between £70m and £86.4m, but senior figures at the club remain 'sceptical' over their chances of securing his signature.

Kane scored 27 goals and registered 10 assists in 50 appearances for Spurs during the 2021-22 campaign, including 17 goals and nine assists in the Premier League.

The centre-forward has also been in strong form at club level during the current season, scoring 12 goals and registering one assist in 15 outings in the Premier League.

However, he only managed one goal and two assists in six outings in the group stage of the Champions League.

Kane's desire to challenge for the biggest trophies could lead to him seeking pastures new next year, and Tottenham are no longer in a strong position to demand a huge fee due to his contract situation.

Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the striker, although it is unlikely that Antonio Conte's side would be willing to let him join a Premier League rival.
