Bale distraught with Spurs over Madrid rejection?

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has reportedly been left distraught by the club's flat refusal to entertain a world-record bid from Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are believed to have had a £86.3 offer rejected by Spurs yesterday, with chairman Daniel Levy not open to the idea of selling his star player.

Bale sees the Santiago Bernabeu as a dream destination and is hurt that Spurs would not even consider selling him at a world-record price, according to The Guardian.

The 24-year-old wants Champions League football and reportedly sees a move to Madrid as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that must be seized this summer.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has refused to comment on reports of a bid for Bale from Real, while insisting that the Welshman will be back in contention next week following a muscle injury.
