AVB not opposed to Dawson stay

Andre Villas-Boas has revealed he would be happy for Michael Dawson to remain at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the end of the transfer window.

Spurs have accepted a £9m bid from Queens Park Rangers for the central defender, who had previously been made club captain under Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane.

The Portuguese coach has explained his reasoning behind Dawson's potential sale, but also admitted that it would be a "good situation" if the 28-year-old stayed at Tottenham.

"Queens Park Rangers showed an interest in Michael and an agreement has been reached between the two clubs," he said.

"But he's a great professional and if he is still here at the end of the transfer window it will be a privilege for me."

Dawson joined Spurs from Nottingham Forest in 2005.
