Andre Villas-Boas: 'Chairman has promised Gareth Bale stay'

AVB: 'Chairman promised Bale stay'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that chairman Daniel Levy has assured him that Gareth Bale will not be sold this summer.

Bale has been heavily linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid, and it has even been suggested that they were reserving squad number 11 for him.

However, AVB has said that Levy will turn down any offer from the Spanish giants this summer.

"We have the pledge of the chairman that Bale is not going to leave the club," Marca quotes AVB as saying.

Bale's former teammate Luka Modric recently backed Real's pursuit of Bale.
