How Tottenham could line up against Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur's list of season-ending injuries has stretched from six to eight ahead of Tuesday's Premier League encounter against title-chasing Manchester City in North London.

Ange Postecoglou's men relegated Burnley on Saturday courtesy of a 2-1 come-from-behind triumph, thereby keeping their top-four hopes alive until Monday night at the very least.

However, Richarlison - omitted from the Brazil squad for the 2024 Copa America - missed that victory due to a calf issue sustained in training, while Yves Bissouma is now missing due to a knee problem.

The duo join Timo Werner (hamstring), Ben Davies (calf), Manor Solomon (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (thigh), Fraser Forster (ankle) and Destiny Udogie (thigh) in the hosts' medical bay, leaving Postecoglou short of options for change up top in particular.

Consequently, the quarter of James Maddison, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson should all reprise their roles up front, unless Postecoglou springs a surprise by promoting Bryan Gil or Giovani Lo Celso.

Bissouma's latest setback means that there is scope for a midfield alteration, though; Rodrigo Bentancur may step in for his stricken teammate alongside Pape Sarr, although Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a viable alternative.

The Australian's biggest quandary is undeniably at left-back, though, as Emerson Royal ceded his spot to Oliver Skipp on Saturday, and match-winner Micky van de Ven completed the match in that position, with Radu Dragusin occupying a central role.

However, Skipp has not had many minutes in his legs recently, and Postecoglou said after the game that Van de Ven's fitness troubles makes him reluctant to deploy him out wide, so Emerson can potentially look forward to a recall alongside Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro and Guglielmo Vicario.

Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Emerson; Sarr, Bentancur; Kulusevski, Maddison, Johnson; Son
