Spurs part ways with Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they have parted company with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

While Spurs reached last season's Champions League final, it came at a time when the North London outfit were unable to replicate that form on the domestic stage.

Ahead of the return to Premier League action at the weekend, Spurs sit in 14th position in the standings, 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City and 18 behind leaders Liverpool.

Earlier on Tuesday, bookmakers made Pochettino the favourite to become the next top-flight manager to leave his job, something which ultimately materialised later in the day.

Chairman Daniel Levy said: "We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the Board has taken lightly, nor in haste."

"Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing."

The Argentine departs Spurs having won 159 and lost 72 of his 293 matches in charge.
