Spurs end their Old Trafford winless streak with a thrilling 3-2 win over Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur recorded their first victory at Old Trafford since 1989 with a 3-2 win over Manchester United today.

The visitors took a surprise lead after just two minutes when Jan Vertonghen exchanged passes with Gareth Bale before beating Anders Lindegaard with a deflected effort.

This lead was doubled just after the half-hour mark when Bale broke away before cutting inside and firing his shot home.

United pulled a goal back five minutes into the second half through Nani, but Spurs responded immediately courtesy of a Clint Dempsey strike to make it 3-1.

Robin van Persie then sent Shinji Kagawa through less than a minute later, and the winger made no mistake to score the game's third goal in less than three minutes.

Wayne Rooney came within inches of bringing United level after 62 minutes when he curled a free kick towards goal, but it came back off the post.

United pushed forward to try to find an equaliser, but Brad Friedel did well to save from Paul Scholes and Nani, while the woodwork came to Spurs' rescue from Michael Carrick's effort as Andre Villas-Boas's men held out for a historic victory.
