John O'Shea: 'We need to stick together'

Sunderland defender John O'Shea insists that his side need to stick together in order to keep themselves in the Premier League this season.

Sunderland defender John O'Shea is adamant that his side must stick together to haul themselves to Premier League survival.

Results at the weekend dropped the Black Cats to the bottom of the table, and with just eight games left in their season they are seven points adrift of 17th-place Norwich City.

Gus Poyet's side travel to Tottenham Hotspur later today, and O'Shea is hopeful that he and his teammates can earn a positive result at White Hart Lane.

He told the club's official website: "We've gathered more points this season against teams in the top half of the table and we have to use that over the next few games going forward, particularly Spurs and we're fully focused on that game.

"After their last game they're going to want to put in a reaction, while it's pure and simple what we have to do. It's everyone together.

"We have to stay together as a team and make sure we have that commitment and attitude to go and win matches."

Sunderland are 20th in the Premier League with 25 points after 30 games.
