How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Leicester City

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for Sunday's Premier League showdown with fellow high-flyers Leicester City.

Second-placed Tottenham Hotspur welcome fellow high-flyers Leicester City to North London on Sunday with both sides looking to bounce back from midweek defeats.

Spurs fell to a last-gasp winner against champions Liverpool at Anfield, a result which saw them surrender top spot heading into Christmas.

Leicester are just one point behind their opponents in fourth, but also come into this match after losing to Merseyside opposition having gone down to Everton in midweek.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Jose Mourinho could set his side out for the visit of the Foxes.

Doubtful: Gareth Bale (illness)

Mourinho is expected to revert to the 4-2-3-1 formation which he has used for most of the season so far on Sunday, having deployed closer to a 4-4-2 from the start against Liverpool.

There are also likely to be changes to personnel as he looks to keep his squad fresh, with Tanguy Ndombele, Lucas Moura, Sergio Reguilon and Matt Doherty among those pushing for starts.

Steven Bergwijn was guilty of missing two good chances for Spurs at Anfield and, while that alone is unlikely to be enough to cost him his place, Mourinho's desire to rotate could see him sit out.

Gareth Bale could provide further competition for those forward places if he recovers from illness as expected, having missed out entirely again against Liverpool.

Deadly duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, who between them have scored 20 of Tottenham's 25 Premier League goals this season, are once again expected to start, with both boasting impressive records against Leicester.

Son has had a hand in seven goals from his last seven appearances against the Foxes, while his goal against Liverpool saw him already equal his tally from last season.

Kane, meanwhile, has netted a personal-best 14 goals in just 10 Premier League appearances against Leicester and one more on Sunday would equal the competition record for most goals by a single player against a specific opponent - currently held by Sergio Aguero against Newcastle United.
