How Barcelona could line up against Tottenham Hotspur

How Barcelona could line up against Tottenham

Barcelona head coach Xavi is still plagued by a number of fitness concerns ahead of Tuesday's final pre-season friendly with Tottenham Hotspur in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

Gavi (back) and Andreas Christensen (ankle) are still recovering from their afflictions, while Inigo Martinez could miss the start of the La Liga season due to his foot concern.

Furthermore, Ilkay Gundogan was unable to take part in last week's win over AC Milan due to adductor discomfort, and the German will need assessment closer to kickoff on Tuesday.

With only one non-competitive fixture left on their summer schedule, Xavi should deploy a full-strength XI, starting with Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia protecting Marc-Andre ter Stegen in goal.

Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde will expect to line up in the wide areas, while the returning Oriol Romeu could take advantage of Gundogan's possible absence to start in the number six role.

Pedri and Frenkie de Jong appear to be the most likely candidates to complete the midfield, as Franck Kessie joins the influx of Saudi Pro League arrivals with a switch to Al-Ahli.

Ousmane Dembele is also on the verge of departing for Paris Saint-Germain, allowing Raphinha and Ansu Fati - who netted the winner in last week's win over Milan - to start in support of Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Ter Stegen; Kounde, Araujo, Garcia, Balde; Pedri, Romeu, De Jong; Raphinha, Lewandowski, Fati
