Redknapp: 'Kane is like Sheringham'

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has compared in-form Spurs hitman Harry Kane to White Hart Lane icon Teddy Sheringham.

Kane has scored eight goals in seven cup games for the Londoners this season, but is yet to be given a start in the Premier League by Mauricio Pochettino.

Redknapp feels that the 21-year-old, whom he has previously tried to bring to Queens Park Rangers on loan, bears a resemblance to ex-Spurs and England forward Sheringham, and has done enough to warrant a first-team opportunity.

"He's a little bit in the Teddy Sheringam mould. He hasn't got great pace but he is a clever, clever player and technically he is very good," Redknapp told talkSPORT. "He is a bit like Teddy with that sharp mind. He's a fantastic footballer, he's got a great attitude and you couldn't meet a nicer lad.

"I've nearly brought him to QPR a couple of times on loan and at the last minute we didn't quite manage to do it.

"I think he ready he is ready now to have a run. He is scoring goals - what more can he do?"

Sheringham, who is now coaching at West Ham United, scored 126 goals in 270 games over two spells at Tottenham.
