Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp explains why Andre Villas-Boas should aim high if he succeeds him at White Hart Lane.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes that his successor at White Hart Lane will have the resources to mount a serious championship challenge.

Andre Villas-Boas is the odds-on favourite to replace Redknapp, with reports claiming that the Portuguese boss may take charge of Spurs at the start of next month.

Redknapp guided Tottenham to a fourth-place finish last season and the 65-year-old says that he would expect Villas-Boas to at least match that achievement in the upcoming campaign.

"He has been to England. He has been to Chelsea. Things did not work out for him," he told Sky Sports News.

"The chairman at Tottenham feels that he can do the job at Tottenham. He has certainly got the players.

"I think that they have the players there to be a top-four team every year and to challenge for a championship. That is my opinion. They have got the players there."

Villas-Boas won 19 of his 40 games in charge of Chelsea, losing 10 and drawing 11.
