Mauricio Pochettino upbeat after loss to Real Madrid

Mauricio Pochettino claims he can take the positives from defeat after watching Tottenham Hotspur lose 2-0 to Real Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that he took the positives from defeat after watching his side lose 2-0 to Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena.

Goals from James Rodriguez and former Spurs attacker Gareth Bale condemned the North Londoners to defeat in the semi-final of the Audi Cup, and Pochettino admits that they needed to be more clinical in attack.

"We played well and when we assess the full 90 minutes there are plenty of positives for us, a great experience to compete against these world-class players," the Argentine told the club's website.

"We need to be more consistent and in the last 20 metres we need to score, we need to be more aggressive, but we are in a good way. You have to understand that in front of us is Real Madrid and we're a little frustrated by the result, but there are a lot of positives."

Spurs will meet AC Milan in the tournament on Wednesday before turning their focus to Saturday's Premier League opener against Manchester United.
