Michael Keane drafted into England squad as Dele Alli withdraws

Keane drafted into England squad

Michael Keane has been drafted into the England squad as a replacement for the injured Dele Alli.

The Everton centre-back has only recently returned from an injury of his own, but was fit enough to feature in the Toffees' dramatic 3-2 win over Watford on Sunday.

Keane will now join up with the rest of the England squad at St George's Park today as they begin their preparations for the upcoming friendly double-header against Germany and Brazil.

Alli will play no part in either match having missed Tottenham Hotspur's win over Crystal Palace with a hamstring injury, while Harry Kane and Harry Winks could also be doubts having been substituted at Wembley.

The Spurs duo will undergo further assessments at the club before a final decision is made, as will Chelsea captain Gary Cahill following his participation in the 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Jordan Henderson missed Liverpool's match against West Ham United with a thigh injury, but he is expected to join up with the England squad later this week.

Gareth Southgate's side face Germany on Friday before welcoming Brazil to Wembley four days later.
