Gareth Bale admits new central role is improving his game

Bale relishes new role

Gareth Bale has admitted that being given a new central role in the team is helping to improve his overall game.

The Welshman was played in his new position on Tuesday night and scored both goals in Spurs' 2-0 win over Norwich.

The goals took his tally to eight for the season and the 22-year-old is hoping to continue his form to help sustain Spurs' challenge for the title.

"The free role is helping me improve as a player as I'm not being marked out of the game," said Bale.

"Since people have been double-marking me or even triple-marking me it's something that I've had to bring into my game.

"It's enjoyable, especially when the team's playing as well as it is. It's great to be in there. Hopefully I can keep continuing to play in the kind of form that I am and I hope I will get more goals."

Spurs are currently in third place, seven points behind both Manchester clubs with a game in hand.
