Bale "delighted" with double PFA awards

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has declared that he is "delighted" at being named the PFA Player of the Year for the second time on Sunday night.

Bale was picked as Player and Young Player of the Year by his fellow professionals and received both awards at a ceremony in central London last night.

The 23-year-old has insisted that the team ethic at Spurs instilled by manager Andre Villas-Boas helped him shine in an advanced position for long spells this season.

He said: "It's a massive honour. To be voted by your peers is one of the biggest things in the game.

"It's great to win it and I am delighted. When you look at the list, there are some massive names on it and the other nominees have been unbelievable this year, but I couldn't have done it without the team.

"They have been fantastic this year and so has the manager. I couldn't have won it without them so I would like to give them all a big thank you as well."

The Welshman scored his 24th of the campaign in all competitions on Saturday in his side's 2-2 draw at Wigan Athletic.
