Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas hits back at one-man team jibes

AVB: 'Spurs are not a one-man team'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has rejected claims that the North London outfit depend too much on Gareth Bale.

The Wales international came to the rescue for Spurs by scoring the only goal in Saturday's victory over Southampton, despite the former Championship side dominating large parts of the fixture.

"For me [being labelled a one-man team] has no value whatsoever and is extremely unfair," the Irish Independent quotes Villas-Boas as saying. "The team has to produce for a player to enjoy this moment of brilliance."

Following the weekend's win, Tottenham are now two points adrift of a Champions League place.
