Andre Villas-Boas open to using Emmanuel Adebayor against Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas suggests that striker Emmanuel Adebayor could play against his former club Manchester City this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that outcast Emmanuel Adebayor could feature against Manchester City this Sunday.

The 29-year-old has dropped down the pecking order behind Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe this season.

However, Villa-Boas has suggested that Adebayor is in contention to make his first appearance of the Premier League campaign.

"[Soldado, Adebayor and Defoe] are very near each other at the moment and it could be a possibility that even Ade could play that game," BBC Sport quotes Villas-Boas as saying.

"These are all decisions that we have to take. We don't have enough reasons at the moment not to trust Soldado and Defoe because they've been excellent. Hopefully it's a decision that's best for the team and best for the strategy."

Tottenham are currently seventh in the league table.
